Min is a minimal web browser for focused browsing and research.

Min is aimed at people who want to keep browsing focused rather than manage a crowded strip of tabs and a large collection of settings. Its compact interface and tab-grouping approach suit research or project work, especially when separate activities need to stay distinct.

For daily use, Min organizes open pages into Tasks that you can switch between with keyboard shortcuts. Inactive Tasks collapse automatically, making it easier to return to a set of pages without leaving every tab visible at once.

Keep browsing tasks separate

Tasks provide the main way to organize tabs: group pages by project or activity, then move between those groups as needed. Pages that have not been viewed for a while fade out, which helps distinguish active work from older tabs. When you need to concentrate on one page, focus mode hides the other tabs.

This approach is useful for people who regularly switch between research topics or work sessions. Instead of relying on a long sequence of tabs, you can keep related pages together and reduce the number of unrelated pages competing for attention.

Search and organize pages

Min can search the full text of pages you have visited, with that history stored locally on your device. This makes it possible to find a page by recalling words from its content rather than remembering its title or where it appeared among open tabs.

Bookmarks can be organized with tags, and Min can suggest similar pages. Together, tagged bookmarks and full-text history search provide two ways to return to useful material: one based on deliberate organization and the other based on remembered page content.

Built-in blocking and technical details

Min blocks most ads and trackers by default, without requiring an extension. The content-blocking level is available in Preferences, giving users a setting to review when adjusting how blocking works.

The browser is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and is written in JavaScript on top of Electron. It uses the Chromium engine to render pages. Min is available for Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, and Linux.

Considerations before using Min

Min does not support Chrome or Firefox extensions, including add-ons such as password-manager extensions. Its small set of settings also leaves less room for customization than a browser built around extensive configuration. These constraints matter if your usual browsing depends on add-ons or specialized settings.

Min is therefore best suited to focused browsing and research when its built-in tools cover the essentials. Users who need extension-based workflows may find that it cannot serve as their only browser, while those who want Tasks, focus mode, local full-text history search, and automatic blocking can use those features without adding extensions.
